The Plongeur Professional or the Professional Diver is one of the most iconic divers’ wristwatches ever made in 1970.
It was known as the Seamaster Professional 600 then.
2009, OMEGA has updated the Ploprof. The reborn model is equiped with a new movement, Co-Axial Cal 8500 and has higher water-resistance rating, and was named as the Ploprof 1200 (1200 m, 4000 ft, 120 bar).
Our OMEGA Moderator, Bill Sohne has done a detailed side by side comparison last year. Please click here to access his review.

And for 2010, OMEGA presented a white version of the Ploprof, with a new white dial variant and chrome-coated Arabic numerals bezel and comes with the option of either white rubber strap or a the mesh “Sharkproof” bracelet.
The question now is, which model do you prefer?
•Black or White?
•”Sharkproof” mesh bracelet or Rubber strap?

We live in interesting times. In recent years, we have witnessed the rise and fall of many watch brands, in lock-step with the roller-coaster global economy.
Yet, for those that are seriously focused and dedicated, these turbulent times also provide ample opportunities. These are opportunities to truly reexamine its rich past, opportunities to innovate and create products of quality and value, and opportunities to gently steer the confused and tired consumers from all that marketing extravaganza, back to what’s important - honest, traditional fine watch-making.
I believe that Girard Perregaux is a brand that is facing these opportunities. This relatively quiet brand has undergone some changes in the recent years, and is at an interesting crossroad. How will it come out victorious? What’s the current positioning and future direction of this age-old manufacture?

The Ocean Dual Time belongs to the Harry Winston tradition of travel watches. This tradition has started with the Premier Excenter Timezone I presented here a few weeks ago. This Excenter has a second timezone display through a retrograde hand and an handwind caliber.
Even if the purpose of the Ocean Dual Time (or Z4 when it gets the Zalium case) is the same (a watch dedicated to the people who travel a lot or who need to get at a glance the time of a second timezone), the way Harry Winston designed it was totally different. Read the rest of this entry »

When the RM025 was unveiled, it was the first steps of Richard Mille into a new word: the world of the diving watches.
I was very excited by this presentation due to Richard Mille’s ability to create innovative and comfortable watches.
In fact, the project behind the RM025 was fascinating: the will to redefine the rules of the diving watches, to create a very complicated watch with a water resistance of 300 meters… Read the rest of this entry »

From the Piaget press release for their new boutique exclusive, the Piaget Limelight City:
It draws its character and its lines from the brand roots, while clearly heralding the future. The latest newcomer to the collection, named Limelight City, is a contemporary expression of a resolutely Piaget style.
Its vintage spirit lends it unique character and its shapes anchor it firmly in a chic urban atmosphere while remaining firmly rooted in the traditions of an incomparable signature: that of the Manufacture de Haute Horlogerie Piaget. Inspired by an historical Piaget model from the early 1960s - equipped at the time with Piaget Calibre 12P-, the new Limelight City is a contemporary expression of an original historical design. A shape inside a shape, an oval within a cushion-type case forming a structured timepiece expressing a resolutely active urban nature. Read the rest of this entry »

The Cartier Santos Triple 100 was first launched in 2008 in a limited edition of 20 pieces, cased in palladium. It featured three dials – in white, diamond pave and a hand-engraved tiger – made possible by a patented louvre system operated by the crown. Three-faced louvres made of solid white gold with a triangular profile are rotated to show each of the dials. The simplicity of the concept belies its complexity…. Read the rest of this entry »
